Use your exact passport details, confirm the departure pier on the order and check service notices on the day. Do not travel to a pier just because a map calls it “Xiamen Ferry Terminal”.

Check the official booking route

Xiamen Ferry’s FAQ describes foreign-passport booking through a real-name-verified Alipay account. It refers to the official service name 屿见厦门轮渡 and entering a passport under the appropriate document type. Some documents need manual checking.

The company’s advance-sale notice sets a 15-day window including the travel day. Availability, the route offered and the rules displayed in the live booking service still need checking for your date.

We have reviewed the operator’s written guidance, but have not completed this flow with a foreign passport. Its FAQ mixes current app instructions with older website references. Start with its official service, not an old web-booking screenshot.

Before you confirm a ticket

  1. Match each passenger’s name and document number to the document they will carry.
  2. Read the departure pier, arrival pier, date and sailing time.
  3. Check the total cost and the change, cancellation and return conditions.
  4. After paying, confirm the order is successful. Save the order details and pier names offline.

Do not interpret a bank notification by itself as a confirmed ticket. Check the operator’s order status if the payment and booking screens disagree.

Use the pier printed on your order

Useful names to recognise include 厦门邮轮中心厦鼓码头 (Xiamen Cruise Center Xiagu Wharf), 三丘田码头 (Sanqiutian Wharf) and 内厝澳码头 (Neicuo’ao Wharf).

Visitor, resident, day and evening services should not be treated as interchangeable. Let the purchased route determine where you go. Show staff the complete order, not just the word “Gulangyu”.

Our planning suggestion: allow time for queues and a manual document check. Bring the original document used to book and check the operator’s boarding cutoff.

If booking or sailing does not go to plan

If document verification or a text message blocks the booking, consult the operator before going to the pier. Ask which official counter can handle your document and whether tickets remain; a counter visit does not guarantee a seat.

Check official service notices before leaving. Weather-related suspension can change your plans. Ask your hotel for help reading a Chinese notice and follow the operator’s change or refund instructions.

Keep an alternative day in the city available instead of committing every remaining hour to the island.
