Choose the journey around your destination, luggage and arrival time. Match the Chinese destination name and keep a payment backup, especially for your first trip.

Choose the route that you can complete

JourneyOur planning suggestion
Two places near metro stationsCompare the walking distance and transfers on the operator’s map.
A bus or BRT journeyCheck the boarding stop, direction, payment and last service.
Luggage, a late arrival or a difficult addressConsider an official taxi or a clearly confirmed transfer.
A short walkCheck weather, crossings and the actual entrance, not only straight-line distance.

Before entering the metro

Open the official network map and identify both stations. Check the destination displayed on the platform before boarding.

Ask station staff about an accepted ticket-purchase method if you cannot activate a transport QR code. Do not assume a foreign bank card can be tapped directly at Xiamen’s gates simply because it works in another city.

Our recommendation: keep the same valid ticket or transport credential available for the whole journey and follow the station’s instructions at exit.

Taking a taxi or app-booked car

China’s official visitor guide describes ride booking through Alipay, WeChat and DiDi, including registration with overseas phone numbers in DiDi. The live app determines the options available to your account.

  1. Enter the destination and check it against the Chinese address.
  2. Read the pickup point carefully, especially at airports and stations.
  3. Match the car and number plate to the booking before boarding.
  4. Keep the trip record until you have collected all your belongings.

When the route or app is unclear

Step out of a busy queue or traffic lane before troubleshooting. Show the destination to a staff member or your hotel and ask for a route that fits your available payment methods.

请问去这里应该怎么走?

“How should I get to this place?” Show the phrase together with the full destination, not by itself.

For a fixed departure, allow time for unfamiliar entrances and security checks. This guide does not provide live travel times, fares or last trains.
