Pick two or three areas
The garden’s own guide highlights Rainforest World, the succulent collections and Wanshi Lake. The contrast between dense foliage and the shapes of desert plants makes a satisfying visit without attempting the whole garden. Official garden overview.
Our suggestion is to start with your priority area and keep the lake as a gentler finishing option. The 2024 visitor account and an earlier photo-trip diary both make the walking effort worth taking seriously. Neither is a current accessibility audit.

Use the west gate for this plan
For a straightforward starting point, use 厦门园林植物园西门, at 虎园路25号. The garden identifies the west gate and south gate as its main visitor entrances; other gates can involve substantially more walking. Official entrance advice.
- At the west gate, check the visitor map and any closures.
- Choose a walking route or ask about the internal sightseeing vehicle before climbing towards the collections.
- Visit your priority plant areas, pausing for water and rest.
- Return to the agreed exit. Do not assume that a different gate has the transport connection you need.
The garden explicitly says its Nanshan gate does not provide access to Xiamen University’s Siming campus. Do not use an old diary’s hillside shortcut as an entry plan.
Current ticket channels
The garden’s 8 April 2026 notice lists full-price admission at RMB 30. It directs visitors to on-site sales or the official WeChat mini program 厦门园林植物园智慧购票, also linked from its official account. The notice says third-party online sales were not authorised from 1 April 2026; check for subsequent updates.
We have not completed the mini-program purchase using a foreign passport or overseas number. If your document cannot be entered, contact the garden or use its official staffed ticket channel; do not assume a reseller will solve it. Concession eligibility and internal transport charges must be checked separately.
Hours, mist and what to bring
The published seasonal hours are 06:30–18:00 from 1 May to 7 October and 06:30–17:30 from 8 October to 30 April. Rainforest mist is scheduled for 09:30–11:30 and 14:30–16:30 in the first period, and 09:00–11:00 and 14:00–16:00 in the second. Check the latest schedule; do not treat the closing time as a last-entry promise.
Wear grippy shoes and carry water. If mist photography matters to you, confirm the operating arrangements when entering. In heavy rain, shorten the visit and follow staff directions. Check the garden’s current notices rather than assuming a dated construction announcement is still in force.
