- Allow
- Allow 2–3 hours for one coastal stretch
- Best for
- Sea views, a leisurely walk and time outdoors
- Effort
- Exposed to weather; sand and crossings can slow progress
Choose the kind of afternoon you want
Huangcuo: choose the beach and adjoining public coastal space if the sea is your priority. Fujian’s coastal walking feature uses Huangcuo as a starting point for exploring this side of Xiamen.
Zengcuo’an: add the village lanes if you want browsing and food stops. The provincial coastal overview describes its former fishing-village fabric and newer creative shops. The lanes and the beach are distinct places; do not expect every accommodation or café labelled Zengcuo’an to sit directly on the sand.

Keep the route deliberately small
- Choose Huangcuo Beach, 黄厝海滩, as your starting area.
- Find an open public access and walk a comfortable distance along the shore or designated promenade.
- Pause before turning back. Keep enough energy for the return journey instead of walking until you are tired.
- If you still want a food stop, take current public transport or a taxi to 曾厝垵. Treat this as an additional journey, not an assumed short stroll.
For a lighter day, do just the first three steps. For a city-and-sea combination, use this outing after a shorter morning and give the beach the best weather window.
Read photo-led recommendations with context
Bright photographs can make a coast look empty and a village look entirely peaceful. A Qunar visitor account draws a useful distinction between the coastline and busy commercial lanes. We use that distinction for planning, without repeating its dated journey times or claims about hotel value.
Our suggestion is to check the weather on the day and choose comfort over a particular photo. A hazy horizon, strong wind or a crowded weekend does not mean you have chosen the wrong spot; it may mean a shorter visit is the better use of your time.
Getting there and staying comfortable
Search for the full beach name in Siming district. Huangcuo is also used for places elsewhere in Xiamen; the destination card specifies the island’s coastal area. For pickup, agree a legal roadside meeting point near your exit.
This is a walking guide, not an assessment of swimming conditions. Follow local barriers, flags and weather warnings. Avoid climbing shoreline rocks for photographs and use designated road crossings. Bring water and sun protection; move away from exposed coastal areas if staff close them or severe weather is approaching.
